Peak Performance workshops are easily tailored to meet your specific needs and goals. They range in length from 30 minutes to an entire day and can be adapted for groups from 5 to 500. Individual consultation is also available. Fees are on a per-workshop basis and include all expenses such as travel and materials.
As a performance coach, I believe everyone is a performer and I am committed to getting the psychological skills of peak performance and mental toughness into the hands of performers of all ages and all stages. I specialize in coaching performing artists, but I have also worked with athletes, business leaders, public speakers, physicians, and attorneys.
I am on the faculty of the Brigham Young University School of Music and have been teaching the Psychology of Music Performance for over twenty years. My experience as a psychologist, singer, educator, and researcher provides a unique and powerful approach to my performance coaching.
I consider my office to be the safest yet most challenging place on the planet. I am an advocate of positive psychology and performance coaching. My clinical specialties include:
I have written The Nine Point Parenting Tune-up. If you email me with a request for a copy, I will send it to you for free. I love coaching parents.
I have recently added addiction recovery with an emphasis on sex and pornography addiction as a focus in my practice. Bringing clarity and hope to individuals and families dealing with the wreckage of addiction is challenging and very rewarding. Recovery is life! Life is Recovery!
I love adventure. I believe that the greatest adventure is the exploration of the nooks and crannies of our own minds, searching for and removing the blocks that are keeping us from living our potential. I am fascinated by the diverse cultures of the world and the ever present challenge of understanding, mutual respect, and peace. I love exploring and enjoying our beautiful planet. I love the outdoors and am happy whether I am walking in the jungle of Peru, repelling through a slot canyon in Southern Utah, or cross country skiing through a beautiful mountain meadow. From time to time I even take groups of venturesome souls with me on adventures of transformation.
I am married to my wonderful wife Kathy of 27 years and I have been privileged to be mentored by four amazing children. I sing and I enjoy playing my Native American Flute at sunset while sitting on a rock in the desert.
Step up, Risk, Enjoy!™ is my mantra for a successful life and "The Freedom to Sing"™ is my goal for every performer and we are all performers.
I am here to support you on your quest to be a great performer.
— Jon Skidmore, Psy.D.
"After our workshops with Dr. Jon Skidmore, we heard comments from teachers, students, and parents like, ‘It was awesome, fun, and we learned so much.’ We were given a wonderful hand-out taking us through much of the process. Dr. Skidmore is passionate about his subject and presents the workshop with that kind of energy. I would recommend this workshop to any one who would like to improve their performance, students, teachers and parents."
